One of the most popular questions that I get asked as a trainer is how do to get rid of fat around the belly. Most people think that if they do 100 sit ups a day that they will get rid of the belly fat where this is not the case. Cardio is the best thing that you can do to get rid of any fat on the body.
According to the American College of Sports Medicine, adults should get at least 150 minutes of cardio activity a week. The easiest way to break this down is for 5 days of 30 minutes of cardio activity. The best thing is that this activity does not need to be done for 30 minutes straight. If can be broken up into 10 minute increments. If you’re like me you probably get bored quickly so using different machines is also an option. Personally I like to alternate between spinning and running. (more…)

At some point we all hear a crackling or popping noises coming from around our knee. Don’t be alarmed by this sound as it is perfectly normal. Knee pain is one of the most common injuries a person can encounter while working out. The reason that knee pain is so common is because there are muscles, tendons, and ligaments composing the knee. The knee is the main connection point for the major muscles in the leg. When your legs get sore you often feel it at points where the muscles connect to the knee. The 3 main types of problems that we are likely to see while working out are overuse injuries, tears, and aging /arthritis. (more…)

Spinning classes are a great way to get in a vigorous workout without putting high impact on your joints. A great cardio workout, high caloric burn and muscle building resistance are a few reasons why spinning helps keep a body in amazing shape!
Bike Set Up: The Rite Bite’s spinners allow you to adjust your saddle and handlebar positions front to back and up and down to allow for the perfect fit. With the proper bike setup you minimize the risk of injury. If you are new to spinning, be sure to arrive to class at least 15 minutes early to discuss bike safety and setup with your instructor.
Eat Light before class: Eat a small snack or give yourself a few hours between your last meal and your spinning class. If you eat a big meal then jump on your bike, your stomach may turn faster than the pedals you’re pushing. (more…)
